My mom and I were out of town and decided to get our nails done at Star Nails. When we arrived the parking lot was jammed packed they were so full, so we assumed it would be a good place since they were so busy. We each got the manicure with dipping powder. My mom had to switch to five different chairs while getting her nails done because they kept moving her around to different people. We got done and went to pay. It was then that the lady told me it was $60 for mine alone just for the dipping powder and manicure. I asked why in the world it was so expensive, because where we are from, dipping powder and manicures are included and the price is normally $35. The lady told me that it is $45 for dipping powder and $15 for the manicure and then prodeeded to tell me that if I am unaware of the price that I should probably ask next time. Keep in mind, the prices are not posted anywhere in the salon. So I asked to see the price sheet and she shares with me that the dipping powder isn’t even on the price sheet because the sheet hasn’t been updated. Talk about pissed. I told her that where I live, I could’ve gotten dipping powder, a manicure, a pedicure, AND a free glass of wine for $60. She then tells me that every place is different. I was shocked. Not to mention we were in there for a total of three hours just to get a manicure. Then my mom gets ready to pay and hers is $65.. $45 for dipping powder, $15 for the manicure, and an extra $5 because she got a French manicure instead of just a full color... keep in mind, that’s less powder they are having to use than if you would’ve gotten a full color. Needless to say, we will not be coming back. We were not impressed.
UPDATE: after exactly one week of getting our $60 manicure/dip done at star nails, my mom has one chipped nail and I have two chipped nails. Again, I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere.

The ladies there are amazing. And they actually carry one a conversation with you while doing your nails.

They were very rude. They are racist and doesn’t mind showing it. The service is horrible. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to spend their monies here.

We came to this place on a recommendation from family members that live nearby. My family has moved from Laurel to a big city and get the dipping powder manis every 2 weeks where we live. My daughter and I have been getting dipping powder for 1 1/2 years and we pay $35. This place charged us $65 each for the EXACT same thing! There are NO pricelists posted anywhere and we were later informed the brochure price list isn’t up to date. When I asked how much the dipping powder was I was told $45. No one bothered to tell us the manicure was extra! The staff is VERY rude with the exception of the grandmother. The employee doing nails next to me (which I hadn’t said a word to) made a comment to me about how soaking polish off in a bowl of acetone is quicker than doing the foil wraps, and I explained to her that where I normally go, they do the foil and it’s done in about 10 min. She said “Well this is how we do it here!” And then when we questioned the charges for the manicure when we checked out, we were told “If you’re concerned about the price you should’ve asked before we started. Everywhere is different!” Wow!!! I don’t remember Mississippians being so rude! I tell people all the time one of the things I miss most about living in the South is the Southern Hospitality! You people need to learn the Southern ways or move along. This is NOT how you treat customers!

My favorite "in and out" nail salon in Laurel. Been going to Lisa for years. Absolutely adore her.
