First off, remember this is a $5 haircut place. Beyond that, it's pretty darn good. All of the hairstylist there are Vietnamese so if you're Vietnamese and have difficult hair, this is a place for you. But also, being an Asian establishment, don't expect too much in the ways of super friendly bubbly service, using the negative Asian service stereotype, of course, but I don't think that it's too bad either. Let's give it 4/5 for service - depending on who is your stylist, as you'll read later.
The ladies always have some Vietnamese soap opera going in the background and sometimes discuss it between each other during your haircut. They aren't the most friendly unless you're a friendly Vietnamese immigrant but they get the job done. Don't get me wrong, it's not like they're mean or disrespectful either. I've been here a few times already and mostly use the first lady on the right after you enter here. I do not remember her name, or ever asked, frankly. She's consistent but again, not very friendly, 3/5 on the friendly scale. She has; however, she did give me one of the best haircuts the last time I visited there since I've been in Houston (about 8 years - The best hair cut came from my brother's old girlfriend who had cut hair for Yao Ming, too bad I had falling out with her - but that's a story for another time).
I hear the second one on the right is a better hair stylist/barber than she is according to my brother in law; however, she's even less friendly. I have not ever had her cut my hair but she is always busy so that could be proof that she is the better one, and maybe why she is more grumpy (because she's always busy). The woman taking care of the second chair on the left is definitely friendlier but didn't cut my hair as well as the first lady on the right. She's older but definitely more service oriented. She even styled my hair afterwards - 5/5.
There is a guy that I've seen there a few times and he gave me the worst haircut I ever had. He made my hair look like his which I simply did not want. I told him specifically how I wanted it but I don't think he was capable of cutting it any other way than his own. Super nice guy though. Unfortunately, be sure to avoid him if you don't want your hair to look like his.

I didn’t like their costumes service. I didn’t like how lady there spoke to me and she was not polite to me.

Getting my haircut here for about 10+ years. I've tried different places to get my haircut and ended up back here. The employees are fair and friendly. Even though I've had some simple hair styles they always got the job done. From picture days in elementary to job interviews and even important meetings I've always been satisfied with the end result.
