I visited Plaza Nails Inc on May 22, 2019 for a Dip Powder Manicure. I arrived an hour before closing and asked if was too late and I was told no. Quickly, the lady had me soaking the powder off. About 20 minutes later, a gentleman sits in front of me and starts taking the aluminum foil off and starts filing the powder off. The nails needed more soaking but I figured he would try to file it off. I had selected my color once I sat down so he then proceeds to pile new powder on top of the old powder. From my understanding and previous experience, all of the powder is usually removed. From there on, I should of known that it was not going to go well. He continued on and puts a UV Gel coat on top of the Dip powder. I have never had a nail tech put UV Gel Polish on Dip Powder. He left me with disgusting, crooked thick nails. He didn’t even clean my cuticles nor removed the blue color around my cuticles. I sat there staring at my nails in disbelief. By the end, it was just me, him and the lady at the front desk. I was charged $46 and she asked if I were going to leave tip and I said no. They were both very offended. I showed her my nails and asked it if that was acceptable. She quickly started speaking to the guy in their native language and walked away from me. I’m disappointed because I would of went elsewhere if they would of told me I would get a rushed job when I initially asked. They reacted as if I was the reason why my nails looked like this. As you can see, the gel started to lift off right at the salon. If you come here, do not expect proper customer service etiquette.

I’ve been coming for years and recently the service has gone downhill. There are two women and a man who are great.... the others are rude and polish doesn’t stay on when they do it. Good value and some clean better than others.

My experience was bizarre...
1) Cleanliness: The manicurists take their tools from beneath the desk. Nothing seemed sterilized. The chairs and general furnishings have seen better days.
2) Service: Absolute lack of bedside manner- the lady I got was pretty rough with my feet and made me bleed. She kept “tapping” me to move, so instead of asking me to move or “guiding” my hands/feet where she wanted them she’d “tap-tap” to indicate “move this leg”. I was perplexed by how rude I found this type of nonverbal communication. Then, instead of a relaxing hand massage (pretty standard these days) I got a SLAP (literally a slap) on my hands...? I’m laughing at home just remembering this part. In the end, she rolled her eyes at me because I had to stumble across the salon with freshly painted toes looking for my shoes because she took them and never returned them or instructed where to retrieve them... Too much attitude from a manicurist for my taste.
3) Results: My nails look sloppy, with the paint uneven near the cuticle and visible streaks. After 16 hours two of them have chipped.
If I wanted a streaky amateur manicure I could’ve gotten one without leaving my pajamas... Anyone can have a bad day at work but quality is in consistency- there are lots of salons on the BK Heights area so don’t waste your time with this one.
Edit: attaching a picture of my nails 2 days later. I haven’t washed any dishes and washed my hair once. Just a day at the office...

I had a straightforward, quick, and easy experience getting my mani-pedi. I was offered a massage while I was getting my nails done, and I found her practices efficient and hygienic, and the prices reasonable. I was a huge fan of the massage chairs they have and they sparkly foot tubs. Close to subway transportation as well.

One of the worst gel manicures I've ever had. The woman had just waxed someone and I ended up with dirty used sticky wax all over my hands because she hadn't washed her hands in between. The manicure itself is completely uneven and lumpy and has spots and divots in it. Would never recommend this place to anyone!
