I liked my hair but I felt that they where a little too ruff and pulled some of my hair out when combing it before the braiding process. I got cornrows and they had my head pulled back so far and my neck hurt like crazy and I did not get a break to rest my head. I felt that the cornrows where too tight and you can actually see the white roots of my hair that was ripped out sticking through my braids. I had bumps around my edges and my head hurt for a couple days . other than that I did like my hair and I've had them in for almost a month now.

This place is great! I get so many compliments on my Senegalese twists. I went on Wednesday, August 22nd in the morning and was able to have both Mimi and her sister do my twists because I made an appointment and they both were available. So they twisted down to the middle of my back and was done in 4 hours. This is a completely different experience from the first time I went earlier this summer... that review is below.
This was my first impression of African Hair Braiding when I visited on June 23, 2018...
This place is pretty cool. They do a good job braiding and twisting hair. But there are several things they will not do.
1. I asked for Senegalese twists that didn’t start as a knot and braid but they refused to install the twists in the “lock/twist hidden root” style (idk the technique name but they knew what I was talking about). One of the ladies told me that if she did the hidden root style that I would call to complain in a few days because the twists would slide out.
3. This was my first time getting Senegalese twists and this was the third African braiding shop I had been to that afternoon and I just wanted my hair done at that point. Otherwise, I would’ve left and tried another spot because they also refused to twist my hair past the bra length.
4. But I liked that the place was the cleanest and best kept braiding shop I had been to that day and it was getting late in the afternoon. Plus most of the reviews are really good whereas the other places I went to didn’t have any reviews. And the price was consistent with the other shops so I decided to compromise and get the twists with the knots and a little past my bra ($200 including hair).
5. I really wanted my twists to reach my waist but they don’t do that here and they let me know that upfront.
6. They also didn’t have enough braiding hair in my color #2 so they had to mix different colors. Not a big deal though.
7. They also don’t have multiple people braiding your hair at one time like other shops. It’ll be just one the whole time but she’ll work nonstop with the exception of bathroom breaks and running next door for a quick snack. This didn’t bother me though because I appreciated the break.
8. What did bother me was that I had to sit uncomfortably in the seat when she started braiding/twisting the crown of my head towards the end of my service. I am 5’8” and the woman braiding my hair is probably 5’1”.
9. Customer service had been A1 until my neck and back started hurting from slouching in the chair. This could have been rectified if the stylist would have sat on her bench but she was more comfortable standing. But at this point she has been braiding my hair for 6.5 hours so I understood and didn’t mind being uncomfortable for a bit longer.
10. I do like that they asked me if I wanted the hair sticking out of the twists trimmed or slicked down with mouse.
11. I also like that Mimi (owner) answered her cell phone which is the shop line every time it rang. Meaning they answer when you call to book appointments unlike a few of the places I called before touring the city for a stylist.
12. I just want y’all to know how it is here. The ladies are nice and considerate. Overall I give them 5 stars because my twists look really nice and they were done quickly.

I really Love the way Mimi did my braids. She's very gentle professional and worth every penny spent. Her prices are excellent. I did a lot of checking for people who took pride in their work and I am not disappointed at all. Mimi gives your hair lots of love while braiding it. She's so gentle I almost fell asleep. She very knowledgeable about which style fit your face and needs. Look no further she is the best. Thanks MiMi

Amazing customer service. Mimi is very fast with hair braiding and she is very nice and welcoming.Her prices are reasonable and she does the exact hairstyle you ask her.She also sells hairs, I totally recommend her.
