You simply must see this historical site. The tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and present the information in an interesting and fun way. The self guided tour was great as well, again with knowledgeable guides to answer any questions. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. There is so much to see and learn up on Jefferson’s Little Mountain, I learn new things every time we go. Don’t forget to watch the video at the visitor’s center!

Visited 7/1/20, a couple of weeks after they reopened. They're currently limiting tickets to 500 per day, which honestly made for a really nice visit. The staff seemed large and very knowledgeable. Slavery was a frequent topic of guides, and there was a 20 minute talk devoted to the subject.

This was my second time, and my wife’s first time visiting Monticello. There are many wonderful experiences on this property, including the outside architectural masterpiece of the building itself, and the internal workings, Furniture, books, clocks, and other items of interest that Jefferson used daily. Don’t miss the working tunnel that runs underneath the house on the first floor of the property, a very busy place where slave labor worked to iron the sheets, brew the beer, send bottles of wine up to the dining room on dumbwaiters, and otherwise keep the household running. Another wonderful place to visit visit on the property is the gardens, 1000 feet of various flowers, vegetables, fruits, and other wonders of nature. Because of COVID-19, there are various learning stations set up on the property, including information about the enslaved workforce, a talk with Thomas Jefferson himself, and a talk about the gardens, and other interesting topics. We are dealing with issues of race as a country right now, and this makes it very difficult to tell the story of the third President of the United States, but Monticello and the staff who work there do this in a fashion that is entertaining, educational, and fun.

The organization does a really good job with this site. It is worth the drive. I do wish that there was a little more information or presentations on the various activities that took place. For example, the textile and blacksmith shops were very interesting and it would have been great to have someone there who could tell about them in detail.

This is such a beautiful property. They have recently allowed visitors to take pictures inside the house which is great. The historians and guides are very knowledgable and engaging. There are beautiful gardens sorrounding the house and a gorgeous view from the top. It is best to purchase tickets in advance on their website since some protocols have changed. Great place for the family!
