This time at Avalon Institute, I came in for a vibrant coloring with the wonderful hairdresser Erica! We started with my natural hair color that was previously lightened at another salon. Our first step was to lighten the base to create an even color in order to create such a beautiful and vibrant ocean blue/green. After the lightener, I had a wonderful shampoo/wash, whereafter we got to set the final color! Once the color was applied, she trimmed my hair upon my request to help maintain a healthy head of hair, and got to do some cool short buzzing on the sides of my head. All in all, Erica is a fantastic hairdresser and I am left feeling incredibly impressed! If you want any color done, be sure to come visit Erica at the Avalon Institute- she is very friendly and does a fantastic job with everything in between!

I went in for a hair cut appointment on Saturday. The girl who cut my hair did not know what she was doing and did not have an instructor with her. I had long hair i’ve been growing out for years and asked for a trim and some layers. She didn’t wrap my hair in towel after washing it. She didn’t ask me how much i wanted cut off, just started to cut. What makes me mad is she had me standing up for most of the hair trimming part so “the chair doesn’t affect it” [asking me to stand up 3 different times for VERY long periods and it felt a bit embarrassing but i thought she knew what she was doing]. When it came to doing layers she was too scared to do it and had the girl next to her do it [i thought she was a teacher but later found it just her friend/student]. The girl left after the cut, there was no accountability, no sign off on her work. The whole time she was more concerned talking with her friend about boyfriend drama, getting drunk at some party, and what they were getting for lunch with their friends. With the experience I had, I’m not even sure she was even supposed to be cutting hair. I complained to a teacher and they had one of the ladies there fix it a bit as the front parts of my hair were missed completely and longer that the entire rest of my hair. This is my hair now with them fixing it. $15 is not worth the years it took me to grow my hair very long (at the hip almost to butt). The girl who did my hair had a perfect full head of long hair to work with and took no pride in doing the job right. The way she just snuck out and left hurt too, and makes me feel like it was on purpose, maybe she’s wasn’t even supposed to be cutting hair, and everyone around me was smiling cause it was funny.

Philsenia was AMAZING, she made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. Making sure i knew what products went in and how they would help my hair! Thank you so much! got a beautiful red color with no bleaching necessary!
