I've been a client of this beauty school in Hanover Park, IL for over 8 years! I have gone a couple of times during the day, but much prefer the evenings, which is most convenient for my schedule. Miss Sarah, the evening instructor, is absolutely phenomenal! She is super friendly, professional and has a great rapport with the students and clientele. And, the evening students are also professional, friendly and very knowledgeable about hair and nails. I'm extremely satisfied with the quality/variety of services offered, including the reasonable prices! :-)

I went in for a haircut and was scared. But from the start I felt the student Monica listened to my concerns and the instructor provided excellent advice and supervision. Monica did a fantastic job.

I have been to other empire locations and I have to say I'm very disappointed with my experience at this one. It was my first time there and I went for a haircut. Since they are students they usually ask you a lot of questions to make sure they know exactly what you want and they have their teacher come by every so often to check everything that they're doing. They ask you every little thing such as where you normally part your hair, but this girl did not. She picked a random place to part my hair which was the opposite side of where I part it. The girl who did my hair did not ask me what I wanted done at all, just how many inches I wanted off, which I showed her where I wanted it to fall. Isn't a haircut about more than just the length...? What if I wanted a bob? Or what if I wanted a 90s Jennifer Anniston cut or something else? All she asked was how many inches I wanted off and then she started to cut...
But then she barely cut anything off and I couldn't really tell that it was more than a trim so I had to ask her to take more. I feel like she was annoyed that I had her go in again and take more but I figured it was better to say something than leave it and not like it. It didn't really seem like she cared about what I wanted, it was like she was just trying to finish the job and be done with it. When the teacher came by and asked if I was having it all one length or layers, she said all one length but I actually wanted lots of layers, she just never asked me and decided to do whatever she wanted. So I guess she put layers in but they are not even noticeable, I usually go for really long and choppy layers but honestly there's barely any layers so now I'm either going to try to fix it myself or go somewhere else to get it done how I wanted. And when I was done she didn't even ask me if it was okay or if I was happy with it, (which I wasn't really, but at that point I guess she was tired of me because I kept having her cut more and more off) she just said "you're done" and sent me on my way.
I get that it's a school and they are learning but at other schools I've been to they always try to listen to what you want and make sure you're happy with what you get, here I just felt like the girl didn't even want to be cutting my hair and like she did not care about what I wanted, like she was doing what was easiest for her to be done with me.

I have been going to the Hanover Park Empire Beauty school years! The students and staff are always so welcoming. You have to remember as a client, these are people learning how to be better -be patient. The profesional staff is there to check their work and of course the students want to excel at what they do and make people happy!
I have received Full highlights, partial, low lights, Deep Conditioning treatment, haircut. Extremely reputable and affordable! You can’t beat the price you are paying.
The only thing after getting a full head of highlights is that my butt hurts from sitting; I think I’ll survive after I see my hair. 💕

Went with my friend to get pedicures. They told us that we could both get them done together and then 5 minuets later they said that another client decided that she wanted one so we have to wait for that other client. That really pissed me off so then they offered me 25% off. Great customer service! But then I noticed that my pedicure was taking 2 hours! The student I had filed my nails for 45 minuets, honestly the teachers should be watching them more and correcting them. Also my student kept talking about her personal life, like how she came here America at 8 months pregnant to have her baby. It was just to much for me to know, and very overwhelming! It’s a controversial topic I don’t care to know or discuss while getting a pedicure. I just wish these teachers where there to guide her in her pedicure and customer service skills. Overall it’s ok experience. I might go back if I have. Few hours to kill.
