My experience with Techniques has been excellent. I have many friends who are clients there and they all have nothing but good things to say. I have never seen a bad cut or color job on any of them.
Tyra Wahl is an exceptional colorist and stylist. Before she landed at Techniques she had been my colorist and stylist since 2003. I must honestly say she has never given me a bad cut or color job. She has great expertise with both short and long hair and also with matching the right color to your coloring and the time of year. I have never had breakage or dry hair and she goes to great lengths to use the best products and recommend the best to me.
I recently asked Tyra to straighten my hair, which is fairly long. She advised me to allow her to use a flat iron and let me see if I liked it enough to invest in the cost and time to have it permanently straightened (or straightened for 6 month periods). I am so glad she did this because after I got home I realized I did not want my hair to be that straight and was able to wash it and get the waves and curls back.
There are many good stylists in our area but I think she is the best and I am very impressed with Techniques, the shop she is now associated with. If you are looking for a good shop, colorist and stylist please do go see Tyra at Techniques.

Tyra at Techniques saved my daughter's hair!!! She'd gone to a very upscale salon in Beaufort SC for color correction after dying her beautiful blonde hair dark brown. $150 later she came home with 2 inch roots, multiple brassy splotchy horrible highlights and severe damage to the ends of her hair. It was a nightmare. I called Tyra to schedule a consult hoping for the best.
She assured my daughter who was literally in tears the whole time we were there that things would be okay. She was realistic and explained it would be a process but that she would fix the damage. We scheduled an appointment for the following day.
Tyra took more time on her hair than I've ever seen. A few hours later after holding my breath my daughters hair looked fabulous, like it never happened. Granted she will need to be gentle because of the damage done by the first disaster but Tyra worked a miracle on her. She was ecstatic and relieved. I highly recommend her for any hair needs you may have, I certainly know who my stylist will be in the future!

After 4 hours, should have only taken 2, I left with my hair in worse condition than when I walked in. I asked for brown to auburn highlights in black hair. I have red to blond highlights in black hair - it looks cheap and amaturish, I could have and have done better myself. My hair is much dryer and breaking off after just one day and on top of that a really really bad haircut. This was after being rinsed in hot water then he rinsed out tthe conditioner bottle with cold water and dumped this on my head and lots of hair pulling when he was taking the foil out, cutting, and blow drying. I will now have to live with the mess until I can afford to find someone to fix it. But this is the 4th salon I've tried in Bluffton - guess I'll have to drive to Savannah or Charleston to find a professional.
