I wouldn't patronize Rockie's Ghetto Hair and Nails if it were the last salon on earth. I use to be a client of the owner Rockie years ago when her shop was located on the east side of Detroit on east 7 mile Rd. My appt would be scheduled for 8am and I didn't get serviced until 11am. The staff was always arguing and fighting, Rockie had a bad attitude at times and I would speak and she wouldn't even speak back sometimes. The final straw was when she charged me more than what she normally charged. I was a young 19-20 year old at the time so I brought the amount I usually pay. She had the audacity to get an attitude when I didn't have the full amount. I didn't know she was going to go up on her prices. She didn't do anything different than she normally did. Instead of her saying just bring it next time, I had to rush to the bank to make a withdrawal before they closed so I could give her 10 additional dollars. Mind you guys, I sat there for 3 hours prior to being serviced. The least she could have did was tell me the prices went up, which would have given me more time to get to the bank while waiting. That day was my last appointment at that place. I made my next two week appointment with a great stylist at JC Penny Salon in Troy, MI. JC Penny was and still is very professional, I am serviced the minute I check in with the receptionist, there is no arguing/fighting/drinking unlike Rockie's, and they inform you ahead of time when the prices are changing. My hair is much healthier and longer now since I go to the salon at Penny's. It's a little more expensive however, the services are great, the staff are friendly, and I feel safe. Leaving Rockie's Hair and Nails Salon was the best decision I've ever made.
