Big D is the owner of the salon, and D and the rest of the staff are so nice and welcoming. They know my name, know that I like Mountain Dew and Dr. Pepper, which they always have at least one or the other. The job they do is very good. Big D is goofy, and you can't take him too seriously; he's hilarious, and makes the experience enjoyable. I wouldn't want to go to any other nail salon.

Most akward experience of my life. I was treated with much disrespect. "Big D" was his name supposedly. He asked if I smoked weed, coke and crack. Lots of drug references and was very unprofessional. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Run far away...
I see someone commented below that he was "joking" - . . . Not sure what type of unprofessional, derogatory, nasty comedian school ne went to but perhaps he needs to catch up and get some actual FUNNY jokes. You know, the ones that are clever and make you laugh.

Visiting from out of town. I went in for a fill, but ended up getting a new full set. "Big D" did an incredible job. I love my nails.

I scheduled an appt for 6:30 for a basic manicure, hoping it'd be fast and easy like the website said. I got there 5-10 minutes early and wasn't sat down and worked on until 7:45. The workers seemed to only work on their favorites (regulars at the salon) first and take their sweet time and push the appts back further for the rest of the people. It was absolutely pathetic. One of the workers kept getting on her phone, making the nail process go even slower. Once I actually got my nails worked on, one of the workers' friends came in, and the worker hurriedly finished my nails as fast as she could, pushed me aside rudely, and told me to go dry my nails. I then wasted more time trying to figure out how to even turn on the nail dryer since she didn't do it for me. I was very unhappy. It was a much wasted night, and I will never go back there again. I had to cancel the rest of my plans for the night just because of how long the wait was at this place. I 10/10 recommend NOT going to Nails and Beyond in Ankeny.
