Loved going there but recently my appointment that I always book before I leave there was mysteriously not in the computer so I tried to make another appointment and was told that the stylist who I loved Patty was booked I have tried to make several appointments and is told the same thing each time so unfortunately I had to go else where. It’s a shame the place is way too busy and your wait time there is long ! Sorry Patty! Front desk associates not very helpful when you call or not accommodating when trying to explain having limited days off and hard to schedule Patty is wonderful I just wish I got to talk to her instead of the front desk!

The owner and managers are fools, horrendous customer service. It's gotten so expensive too...don't waste you're money or time, go to where customer loyalty is respected and appreciated. Also, you pay for a level 5 stylist and their assistant dies your hair and its a huge waste of money bc it looks ridiculous. ..
Went almost weekly for 5 years, never ever again. ..awful awful awful

Great salon. However, when you go paying for a Level 1 stylist, you pay the highest price for services and her assistant in training applies half of your highlights and ends up blowdrying your hair!!!! Everyone has a different technique and experience. That is NOT right at all. When u are paying for a Level 1, it should be done by a Level 1. The assistant can be like a shampoo girl and observe only! When you r paying $245 for your daughter's hair and her hair was done different on both sides, I am not happy. Level 1 is what I paid for!

For 10+ years I had my hair cut, colored & highlighted at L-U. I used to enjoy it & spent approx $1500 year plus very big tips (25%+ inc. helper) & gift certificates.
Their top short hair stylist did my cut. When she was *on*, her cuts were AMAZING, when she wasn't,neither were they. I got cut every 7 to 9 wks & color every 8-10 weeks. Cuts $42+, Color & high/low-lights $175+. Abt twice in 10+ years was unhappy with my color. One reason I tip well is bc I'm picky. If I'm paying $220-$230 (including tip) for COLOR, I'm entitled to want it done correctly. The uneven cuts were an issue, but I never told the owner, only the stylist. WHEN she did a good job I called & thank her. I hoped she got the message that no call meant not a good job. She got annoyed with ME when I SHOWED her my hair was cut unevenly.
As time went on, it became less and less frequent that the cut was good. Perhaps it was partially because she was overbooked, rushed, almost always spending less than 10 minutes on my cut. Short hair like mine, takes a little more time & effort... When she spent more time, there was definitely an improved result.
I believe that one of the overall problems was an over-crowded that was too busy. The owner had closed/sold(?) her 2nd store, consolidating their clients, etc. It became VERY noisy, & CROWDED. Instead of feeling like a valued customer, I felt like a &&dollar signs ONLY. However... because I was 1) stuck in a rut, 2) nervous about finding a new stylist to cut my hair, (especially with my busy schedule) I stayed.
I continued to be a patron of Lighten-Up even after moving, now driving nearly an hour to get there. A few times I was 10 minutes late due to traffic, but always called out of courtesy, and to see if the stylist could still see me, which they generally did. Of course there were many times that I had to wait 15 to 20 minutes for the stylist to be ready for me, when I arrived ON TIME, but I never mentioned it as they had waited for me on several occasions.
One night I had a family emergency with my 92 year old father the night before my appointment and I called the salon to cancel. I had to leave a message as it was approximately 10pm. I called days later to reschedule and was informed that my patronage was no longer welcome as a *scheduled* client! When I asked why, I was informed that since I was a *no show* for my appointment, they didn't want my business. I was truly shocked! I explained that I had called the night before my scheduled appointment, but they didn't care!! Evidently, they didn't get my message, never mind asking me how my ailing, hospitalized father was... I would have thought, that as a high paying, high tipping, LONG TERM client, that they MIGHT have actually called me if I didn't show up and asked me where I was the previous day. They said they didn't receive my message cancelling, but nevertheless I was still shocked,
especially since nothing like this ever happened before. I was told that I could go there, sit and WAIT to see if they could *fit me in* if I wanted to! Not likely!
I went online & read the reviews for numerous places VERY close to my new home. I tried the place with the best reviews, happily it's only 2 miles from my new home. After several visits for cuts, color AND high/low-lights, I can happily report that each visit has brought VERY good results and I am now a steady client there... I not only save a decent amount of money not driving 35+ miles each way, but I save my TIME and energy.
One day while getting my nails done (I drive 25+ miles to that place, because they're VERY good, and I have been a loyal customer for over 10+ years) I heard 2 women complaining about what happened to them when they went to Lighten-Up... they were very unhappy with wait, crowding and service and vowed not to return. I joined the convo, and shared my story. They weren't suprised. Sorry this is so long, but I don't like to give a bad review and felt it was important to explain...

I have been going there for over 5 years and I love going there. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. I go for a haircut about every 5-6 weeks and my hair always looks super. VERY nice place .I would DEFINATELY recommend.
