I was apprehensive about checking this restaurant out. I’d read mixed reviews online as well as from friends who’ve tried it out. I went after 8pm on a Wednesday evening. I was not willing to pay a cover and I’d read to expect a $10 cover. I was just gonna go somewhere else if I actually had to pay one. Luckily, it was pretty quiet and no cover was charged. They had extended the tone in happy hour menu so I go got half offer of garlic Parmesan wings. They made them fairly quickly but they were fresh and delicious. I also ordered a steam pot of corn on cob, red potatoes, shrimp and sausage. It was really good too. Could have used a touch more of salt but the sausage had salt so it wasn’t a huge deal. I found the wait staff to be attentive and friendly. There seemed to be a spades tournament going on. The overall atmosphere felt like going to your granny’s house for dinner where all the family congregates. There is a lot of criticism in reviews. Seems like they might get overwhelmed when they are busy but my experience on an off-peak night was great. I’m on a budget regarding spending on food. I can easily make two more meals out of my steam pot.

Food was very good. I was attending a family dinner celebrating two birthdays, there was about twenty of us. Some order from the appetizer menu others the regular menu. Unfortunately the person's that ordered from the regular menu had to wait an excessive amount of time as did myself and others who had ordered from both menu's Then we had to continually remind our server of missing items. Perhaps when having a scheduled large group two servers might help the efficiency. All staff I encountered were friendly and attentive. Four stars because of the quality of the food and the server.

One of the few under 21 live jazz restaurants/bars in KC! Great free music, wonderful ambiance and customer service. Decent Cajun food. The servings were small. Oh, and there is an additional $10 cover charge after 8 pm.

I went here for a friends birthday. The company was great, the restaurant was not. I ordered off of the happy hour menu; chicken wings and this shrimp thing. The chicken was way over cooked and not spicy at all ( though they do serve a good hot sauce on the side) the shrimp was cooked okay but they put a cheese sauce over it that taste like Velveta. They had a few speciality cocktails, I thought they were all too sweet ( but that’s just personal preference). We had a waitress and one in training. The trainee was better. Service was slow and the entertainment was lukewarm. If you want a nice meal, great service and quality cocktails don’t go to the Bayou on the vine. If you bring your own fun and don’t care about any of the above, this place is alright.

The best Creole and Cajun food in KC. The historic 18th and Vine area is a fun place to hang around too. Love music some nights and great service and food. If I lived closer, I'd be very fat.
