It's sad to be writing a review on Yonkers under these circumstances. Yonkers is closing and everything in the store is now on sale. Currently, a lot of good deals are available. Staff remains jovial and helpful. You should check it out.

To help understand, when Bon-Ton went bankrupt 260 stores around 24 states in the midwest and northeast closed. Over 2,250 employees, (most women in my estimation) lost their jobs. I worked part-time at Younkers for 20 years, it was like a second family. I came out of retirement to 'close the store.' Remember, Younkers itself has been gone since April. It's owned by a liquidation company and anything that goes on after that is not really Younkers, though they are very nice people to work with. Though selling during a liquidation is much different than the great customer service we used to be able to provide, although we still try with very low staffing circumstances. Some days we just stand at the register and 'ring up' because people have their carts loaded. I still treasure each time I am still able to go to work, but our store will close in a few days. It's a very sad time for thousands of families across the US. I treasure the friends I made at Younkers.

No wonder this store is going out of business. Even at 70% off your still better off shopping somewhere else. Or did they raise their prices just before the sale?

Well they're going out of business. It's interesting to see the furnishings for sale but it's sad to see the empire fall. Many malls across America will feel the pain of this dying style of store. Rest in peace Younkers, you'll be missed.

Going out of business. Sad sight, was such a neat store. What's left for merchandise has been picked over. Hurry before they close forever.
