I have been going to Angela's on and off for over 10 years, for standard manicures and pedicures both. As far as I'm concerned, Angela's is one of the best nail salons in San Francisco, period.
They carry Essie nail polish, but the colors tend to be conservative, consistent with the Financial District's customers' taste. They have added a few more "fun" colors such as blue, neon, etc., more recently but you won't find the wide array of trendy colors available from OPI at other nail parlors, so if you have a favorite shade of purple or gray, maybe just bring it with you.
No spa chairs or frills, and they've had the same decor for the past 10 years or so, but the workmanship is *** excellent*** and vastly superior to many other salons. The same manicurists have been working there for years and know what they're doing.
I find that statement "a few of my co-workers tried it and got infections there" in the previous review VERY hard to believe. The place is spotless, so much so that you could probably eat off the bathroom floor.
Anyone can apply a coat of nail polish and make it look good. But where the manicurists at Angela's shine is in cuticle work and flawless shaping of the nail. And their manicures usually tend to last a long time.
They may charge a couple of dollars more than the neighborhoods' nail salons, but in my opinion that couple of dollars is well worth it.
They do gel, acrylic, silk, and they also have a beautician on site for waxing, brow shaping, etc.
Always call for an appointment, if you can. Although I have been able to walk in a few times, there are times when they couldn't take me because they were too busy.
I've tried other salons but always go back to Angela's and I can tell the difference. I hope they stay in business forever.

A few of my co-workers got infections from going here, but before I heard about that, I tried it myself and found them friendly but not very professional.
