We stayed one night after our wedding at the Umstead and it was an incredible experience. The room was very cozy with soft music playing and champagne waiting for us so we could celebrate our wedding! The staff were very accommodating and made it their mission to provide the best service possible. We scheduled a couples massage at the spa the following morning which was a relaxing way to start the next day. We were given a tour of the spa and were made to feel like at home. If you are looking for a place to be treated like royalty this is the place for you!

Greedy $pa - money over customers. BEWARE: Even if you’re headed to the hospital and you’re within the 24h cancellation window, this spa that pretends to care about your wellness will insist on taking your money. Hard to respect the policy for a spa that books out weeks in advance. Manager Mark was most unsympathetic. It also does not matter if you are a local regular. The spa facility is awesome, but they are they don’t actually care if you are healthy. You won $90 and lost a long-time customer. Shame.

We went for our wedding anniversary and had one of the more special dinners we've ever had. The staff was attentive and happy to accommodate us. The wine pairing was exquisite and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable. The dessert was a great and exciting finish to a transcendent experience. Chef John really got creative and pulled out all the stops. 10/10 would recommend and go again!

A world away in a bustling city. A true escape that's also a fun spot for weddings or bar patrons. Eat in the bar/lounge or fine dine in Herons. You really never have to leave. Meetings here are a step above. And you'll live the staff. Pop into the 5 star spa if you have time. Make time!

DO NOT VISIT WITHOUT EATING HERE. It's beyond compare. The only 5 star, 5 diamond restaurant in either Carolina. The chef is amazing, their backing is superb, and the food is angelic. Try the wings, and wings from every other venue will be ruined forever. PLUS it's a short walk to one of the best parks in the continental United States. Proximity to the Umstead park is almost the highlight of this hotel, if the food weren't so freaking good.
