Every time I visit, I'm reminded why I fell in love with Roanoke. This is one of the local businesses where the staff know you by either face or name. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. The staff are skilled and do a consistently excellent job. Everytime I leave, it's like saying goodbye to family.
If you want the prissy, stoic but 'professional' salon feel, this isn't where you go. But if you want familial warmth, jokes, diversity and maybe even some good tv, this is your vibe. Sonny (the owner) is the bomb and hilarious! I've been to several salons around the city but once I returned to Top Nails, I realized I probably won't get my nails done anywhere else.

Don't GO there!! I usually use ProNails but today there was a closed sign on the door so I thought I would give TopNail a try. Bad decision! The place was dirty, no one asked how I wanted my nails until we were part of the way done already. (I wanted a different shape because my previous manicure was too rounded for me) The man doing my nails acted as if me asking for him to shape the tips was a chore. He used the dremel to even out old nail and filling 3-4 times he hit skin or wore down my real nail to a painful thin spot and I would pull back and wince. He was on his phone while doing my nails and there was screaming back and forth in Vietnamese. My nails are the opposite of what I wanted. I wanted pink color and white tips but the main nail is clear and you can see a line where old meets new. I don't know if paint usually comes with a fill in but the guy seemed to think he was done after he applied the gel!? 3 coats of paint were applied in about 2 minutes and they were a tacky mess as soon as I hit Williamson Rd and I soon realized that there was clear polish all over my finders too and peeling off like I had dipped my fingers in glue and let it dry! Not just an accident, it was carelessness!! About 1 minute they looked OK IF that was actually what I wanted. The man told me to "dry my nails, like this" with the heater in my car using more broken English. I do not have anything positive to say about the place. I'd rather have the review than a refund or redo. THEY WILL NEVER TOUCH MY NAILS AGAIN!! I should have realized when I pulled up and saw spa chairs, foot soak tubs, and misc furnishings on the sidewalk that it may be not so great and poorly run. I rationalized it as maybe they are cleaning or remodeling but that was NOT THE CASE! OUCH!! My hands ACHE in the worst kind of way. I hope everyone that considers going there reads THIS review. Think twice before spending your money here.

I've been going since they've opened & I wouldn't go anywhere else. Now its the only place my daughter goes as well. 😁
