I went in to the salon about a month ago in June. I was looking for a haircut because I had a horrible experience at the ten dollar haircuts from Linda’s hair and Nails down the street. Linda gave me a uneven cut and I was looking to get my hair evened out. I had let my hair grow out because it was to short from my initial hair cut. So I walk into the jcpenny salon and no one even noticed me after waiting five minutes on the couch... the cashier apologized and said she was to concentrated on the stocking she didn’t notice me.
This was the beginning of my horrible experience. An African American woman who had dread locks approached me and said she would be able to cut my hair right away but first she needs to put me in the system. She tells me to write my name and number on a piece of paper so I do. The hairdresser then walks me over to her station. It is there I realize something was off because she pulls out a kid size cape around my neck.
At first I thought it was because my hair was short and I wouldn’t get any hair on my clothing but there I am with a tiny cape just barely covering my chest. The hair dresser proceeds to cut my hair getting hair all over the back and sleeves of my shirt.
When she was done with the first trim she took me to the hair washing station we’re she gives me an appropriately sized cape and washes my hair. When she is done “washing” my hair there is still shampoo in my hair. She then walks me over and finished my hair cut with the adult size cape.
It was the worst haircut of my life. Even Linda had the decency of not getting hair all over my clothes. I realized that this woman had been cutting my hair with the intent of causing me an unessary struggle of coating my shirt with a layer of my own hair. The worst part is I gave this disgusting woman a five dollar tip! After I tipped her she let me know that I was welcome to come back and get my hair fixed if I found something wrong with my hair cut.
I thought I was going to be happy paying the $35 dollars for a professional haircut but I didn’t

Store was clean, organized and well stocked in the areas I was looking. I was also greeted by several associates asking if they could help me. Only minus was I only saw one place to check out, and thankfully there was no line!

I can only review the men's section. If you are looking for inexpensive dress clothes or "midwest casual work wear", this is your place.

Wow! Such an incredibly disorganized store. Clothes scattered everywhere and none in their right place. I see from other reviews that this is not new and it seems that upper management doesn’t care. They also won’t care that I’m never coming back.

Favorite department store. House brand is high quality and very inexpensive. Good sales.
