REVIEWS

I've never been here for my nails, but I have been here twice for waxing and felt that I needed to leave a review after this second visit. The first visit was great, hence the two stars. An older woman waxed my eyebrows and she was so gentle, and did a great job. But... my second visit was not as great. I had a younger woman wax my eyebrows and lip. She was incredibly friendly and welcoming, but she BURNT my skin. I've never been burnt from a wax before, but somehow both eyelids have been burnt somewhere, as well as a spot on my upper lip. Excuse the bad photo quality, but I've attached pictures of one of the burns over the past 2 days just as proof that I'm not making this up. It has been two days now and they are peeling, and putting any ointment on them has been SO painful. I did not realize how bad or serious the burns were at the time. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but in person it is extremely visible and painful to touch. I'm so upset that this happened because I felt that they were nice people, but as a customer I am not happy at all.

We were in from Chicago during Christmas 2017. Nice staff, excellent service, and great prices. I highly recommend!

☆ FUNGUS ☆ AMUNGUS ☆ ... My wife contracted a fungal infection (Onychomycosis) less than a week after receiving a fill-in at this salon. The infection was quickly discovered because of the amateur techniques in which they operate ... only three days after receiving the fill-in, two of her nails began to break off, exposing the infection. The ☆ ONLY ☆ reason you would contract a nail fungus from a nail salon is because the staff is not following proper protocol for disinfection ... sterilizing tools, instruments & equipment. ☆ ☆ ☆ In laments terms, tools & instruments are being reused on clients prior to being properly sterilized. Mary charges high-end salon prices while providing lazy, low-cost shortcuts. ☆ ☆ ☆ This salon is not only ridiculously overpriced for the pedestrian services they provide, but the staff (i.e. Mary) is very rude, inappropriate & extremely unprofessional. My wife & daughters normally get their nails done at K T Nails II, at 964 Laskin Rd. in the Linkhorn Shoppes. Do yourself a favor ... save money, your dignity & avoid a potential bacterial infection by patronizing their business instead. They're very courteous, professional & affordable. Because K T Nails II is always packed & Mary's Nail-Tique is always empty, I called & made an appointment for my wife to get a fill-in & a pedicure. Upon entering the salon, my wife was greeted by Mary, who immediately proclaimed with disdain that she didn't like 'doing long nails' & no one in this 'area' wears their nails that long ... rather than speculate on her motive ... feel free to draw your own conclusion. After completing the fill-in & pedicure, we were then extorted $115 ... but still proceeded to tip. Less than three days later, ☆ BOTH ☆ of her pinky nails began to break off ... which screams volumes of the shotty acrylic work performed by Mary & her technicians. After being belittled because of the length of her nails when she received the fill-in, my wife was reluctant to return to Mary's Nail-Tique & request the nails be properly redone. After finally removing one of her pinky nails, we noticed a discoloration to her nail, which I immediately attributed to a fungal infection. I then proceeded to call Mary's Nail-Tique to request they remove the rest of my wife's nails, which she 'agreed' to do. However, upon arriving at the salon, my wife was informed that they would remove her nails, but she would be charged for this additional service ... the epitome of unethical business practices. To over-charge someone for mediocre services, insult them because of their nail length, inflict a fungal infection upon them, then refuse to remedy the situation without being further compensated ... it is blatantly evident that this lady has zero principles. She literally accused my wife of having contracted the infection prior to receiving services from her salon ... which is as ridiculous as it is unethical. The only nails that are infected are the nails that were filled in ... the irony. I have also posted photos depicting the fungal infection my wife received after the fill-in she received at Mary's Nail-Tique.

Overpriced. Had to ask her to clean the polish off my skin because she was trying to send me to lamp. Terrible job for 18 dollars ... Don't go here !

I am writing this review because I am an expert with gel and pink and white acrylic services because for at least 10 years I have been able to wear pink and white without any trauma or damage to my own real nail bed. I scheduled a session yesterday afternoon and was able to receive services in 45 minutes which was great! The manicurist took her time filing my nails at first very carefully and then things went down hill when she got frustrated with the way my old black powder acrylic was stubborn and not coming out easily. She spoke in Vietnamese to another nail tech working there and the other lady told her to wrap each of my nails with some cotton and aluminum foil and acetone so since I wanted a pedicure BADLY too she thought it would be a great idea to do my pedicure while the acetone worked on my nail beds. I found out they had a very low selection of fun nail colors so I chose black, silver and some purple color that I liked. Pedicure was okay and she charged me $35 for the pedicure. What I did not like was the fact that the pedicure took an hour and all this time my nails were still saturated in acetone and I explained to her that this was "over kill" and can we please remove the foil but she assured me I had to keep the acetone on past the hour. My pedicure was fine but then what I did not understand was the fact that my new pink and white set which was to be $55 would be an additional fee of $15 and this nail tech told me in her broken english that the additional soak off fee was only FIVE DOLLARS. I was advised to pay $105 in FULL and I had never before paid for a nail service in advance before but I happily handed them the cash and when she started to file my nail it hurt a TON because my nail bed was RAW after the acetone was left on too long. She then refused to work on me and the other nail tech took over telling me I was complaining too much and making the other woman nervous. I showed the new nail tech my cut on my thumb from the rough filing and the fact that all my cuticles were ragged from the machine not being used properly. I have a sloppy pink and white by the way with cuticles all thick and uneven. If I am going to be charged $105 for nails I expect perfection not ragged cut up skin!!! I also had to teach this new nail tech some tips on how to evenly give a perfect pink and white by using artificial nails to wipe off the excess white powder. By the way the quality of pink and white powder is not creative nails it's some CHEAP BRAND and they only have two choices--light pink and ivory which I am not a fan of. It's funny but after I paid politely and in full BEFORE receiving my pink and white the new nail tech asked me if I wanted to try another salon and she was going to let me leave with my sensitive and raw nail beds so she offered me money back because she was not even confident of her skills. If the owner of this salon is reading this review you really should be ashamed that you have such unskilled inept people working for you. I have a nicked up skin and uneven nail beds where the white acrylic collected over the cuticle beds. I hate writing bad reviews and I feel cheated so maybe hire some new people who actually care about the work they do.
