I've gone to the school since 2000 for hair cuts and waxing. But I've started only going for waxing for emergencies when I can't get it done in Traverse City. But now I have decided not to come anymore because of my recent visit. The student was nice, had a lot of the hair but in the end my skin was red, irritated and sensitive which I did tell her at the beginning. She used also used cold wax, which I thought the school never used I did not realize that the wax was going to be hot and she didn’t tell me she wasn't using the sensitive wax. She asked me if it was okay to use it for my under arms; I said it was fine because it was already prepared and I tried it once, she started putting it on my skin and I should have told her to stop because it was still hot. When it was done my underarms was bleeding which never happened before, also, my under arms and lips were red, had a burning sensation and had burn spots. Two hours later still was the same but more irritated. And yes there place looks out of date and there esthetics room looks like you are in a hospital room. Not very relaxing and it gets hot in there especially in the summer. There prices are going up not worth it if you don’t know the quality of service you are going to get. And yes it has happened to me when I used to get my haircut done there, my student would have another conversation while taking care of my hair and another time a teacher got me mixed up with another client and I got the wrong student who didn’t know/wasn’t used to cutting long hair. And took over 3 hours and the teacher had to take over because that student had to leave and the teacher did not finish it off. Not a very professional atmosphere.

This place is decent, however the prices are going up by 2500+ each program. And seemingly for not that much more offered. The facility is in serious need of a remodel, and bigger space. Esthetics program is not worth 10,500 in my professional opinion, because of the very apparent lack of space, products, and general quality of the whole program. If you’re going to spend that much you might as well go to Douglas J. Aveda with a much better program, facility, and teachers
