A few weeks ago, I was in Oklahoma City visiting a relative. I desperately needed haircut, so after a pretty extensive online search, I selected Revel Eight Salon & Spa. I called Revel Eight and fortunately, I was booked with Rachel Baldwin. The salon is beautiful and parking is a snap. Rachel was immediately welcoming and warm. She asked me questions and patiently listened to my answers. The end result was one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I wholeheartedly recommend Rachel! Thank you Rachel!!!!!

Let’s start with my background- I’ve spent nearly 2k on my hair and over 25 hours in a chair this past year getting my hair to where it was before this visit. There was nothing wrong with my hair, I was just ready to get one step closer to that envied, platinum color. The stylist, Savannah, explained that she needed to lighten all the brown that was still left in my hair after the many, many heavy highlighting sessions that I’ve had. She said that she would do that and then put a cool toner in this session and then would paint in blonde next time. All of this made sense, until it didn’t. After she washed my hair, I noticed just how dark my hair was and wanted to die. I had mentioned it and she said just wait until it was dried. It was dried and I am mortified that after all the time and money I’ve spent (today and in the past), I now have darker hair instead of the lighter hair that I wanted. I started freaking out and she said let’s go outside and look. It did make me feel better because it wasn’t as dark as it was inside, but it’s still so much darker than it was or has been in a long time. My hair was bright, shiny, blonde and mostly healthy - almost 100% to my desired look. Now it’s dark, dull and nearly a grey color— all my hair feels fried. The money aside (almost $300), I’m stuck with this hair for at least a month and it makes me sick to my stomach- it looks like I tried to use box color on my hair. Update: The manager then attempted to lighten the roots and now I have orange/copper penny roots- it looks like I had a child mix up box color and put it on my hair. The hair looked better and more natural before the “correction” was attempted. I’m now stuck with this hair for two weeks before another stylist will attempt to make me look presentable. My hair went from stunning, to gross and then worse, which I didn’t think was possible. I was told my money will be refunded, but it still doesn’t make things right. I now have to live with this hair for the time being, I’m now SO far away from my desired color and my hair is majorly damaged. Not to mention, all the money I’ve spent before has basically been thrown away and I’m going to have to pay someone for at least 3 more appointments to get to where I was before this catastrophe. Photos show what my end goal was, my hair before it was touched, after the first appointment and now.

Got a haircut from Ashley. Wow these guys and girls know hair. Awesome haircut. She took a picture my wife gave me and nailed it. Then they recommended I went downtown to their men’s grooming to get my beard groomed. A true place for men. Offered a scotch when I arrived..then Mark sat me down and went to work on my beard. Excellent expierance at both places. Great job by the owners to create a team of experts who are passionate about being the best.

UPDATE: Added pictures of my horrible hair now. Before going on vacation I was on a budget but really wanted my hair done, went to my moms hairdresser who quoted me a price and said she could do balayage. Once everything was done she charged me triple the price because I have thick hair and balayage is a lot of bleaching. I got home and started looking at the underneath of my hair and she did HIGHLIGHTS the only balayage part was the top where I could SEE. I cried so much that day and never again will I go to anyone else but Rose. That was around August 1st we left August 3 and today is August 23. I flat ironed it and it looks worse. The last few layers of my hair closest to my neck are not even “highlighted” she just bleached the ends. I’m saving up now to see Rose again and pray that she can fix my hair because she worked really hard and all because I was on a budget I went and let someone mess it up. Sorry Rose! I’m very picky about who touches my hair, I have trust issues because of all the salon horror stories I’ve seen. I was recommended by my aunt and after months of telling me to just “try it out” I went in to see Rose. Ever since then, I’ve never looked at anyone else and until I have no hair I will keep coming in to see Rose. They also have complimentary coffee, water, and wine! Everyone is super nice and helps out if needed. They always make sure you’ve been offered a drink or need a fill up.
