Today was my first time coming here. I was a walk in and just wanted a full set, it was busy but I didn't mind waiting since I had time to kill. I waited only 10-15 minutes. Sandy did my nails and she was so pleasant and very fun to talk to, she listened to me and did what I wanted plus more! She also didn't overcharge me like some other nail salons I've been to, I think I actually underpaid but I tipped her well for the great time! She's definitely my new nail lady and I'm excited to come back next time to see what else she can do. She showed me the nail's business Instagram and wow, she has done a lot of beautiful designs! (@letsgetnails) Just a heads up, Sandy and her other nail techs speak Vietnamese to each other here and there, but that's normal in most salons I go to and doesn't bother me cause it's not excessive, looks more like it's work related when they speak to each other. Thought I would share that with you guys because some people are bothered by that but it' doesn't bother me since it's their first language.

Worst peticure of my life! I even trimmed and nipped my cuticles before I went there because I was going to do them myself, but decided to splerge (I went to beauty school so I usually do them on my own). Payed the extra 5 backs for foot skin removal and my heel looked the same after a day. The owner and workers were nice, but I had to wait while she worked on another person and the owner smirked at the design the girl gave me . She knew it didn't look good. I'm never going back!

As a daughter of immigrant parents who started a family business in nails 40 years ago, I resonate strongly with the idea of supporting family owned nail shops. I married a marine and moved away unfortunately, so no more getting my nails done so conveniently at our nail shop. I searched and found this place which I thought was interesting there was a "manager" who happened to be the daughter (sounds so familiar). I am used to dealing with the cultural differences in personality that many view as rude or brash (just like my parents don't always have the best choice in vocabulary when using the english language) so I am quite accepting, patient, and understanding. I expect more from a fellow 1st generation Asian-American with a manager title. If you advertise facebook and instagram on your business cards and website, keep up with them. I sent a DM with pictures to help explain what I was looking for. Two days later (not too bad but businesses usually respond faster or max 24 hours), I received a response of a price quote and when I wanted to make an appointment. I asked if she could itemize the quote because she didn't even ask if I wanted gel, acrylic, gel polish over natural nails which makes big difference in price. So I asked her to itemize to see how she came up with a price without knowing more information. I guided her by asking if that price was for gel, or acrylics or designing all 10 fingers in stead of 2. (the picture showed all 10 I was only looking for 2, also makes a difference in price). Few days, no response, so I DM her again. I called the shop who gave me her number to text to check her IG. ELEVEN days later she responds that they revisited the specifications I wanted and can't accommodate. Her response was actually appropriately worded but not appropriate for the situation. The day of my event, I responded that at this point, I would hope her nail tech could show me what they are able to do and we go from there. I just want to be informed of cost before any work is done so there is no confusion. She cancelled my appointment because as she said I asked to pay less. I told her to scroll up and see I never asked to pay less. I'm not cheap or haggle, I actually tip more than usual because I like to support fellow nail shop families. I even took the time to explain to her in case she misunderstood my intentions of clarifying price so. Design price varies by artist and artwork so they need to be discussed before moving forward and all I wanted was the time to discuss it. I didn't want them to change any of their set prices and to simply INFORM me of they want to charge in designs... then as an informed consumer I'd choose what options I'd like to go with at that time. Seems like she has a lot to learn as a "manager" and to put emotions and assumptions aside to work with customers, especially to build loyalty and long term relationships to build your business. I ended up at Carlsbad Spa and Salon. They did a great job (coming from a previously licensed professional by the way). They were kind and friendly. I didn't even have to ask them to itemize because when I inquired about price, they went over what it would be depending on which option I went with. Design- they gave me a range in price. This is customer service.

The pedi was really great! Absolutely no complaints there. The gel mani was not good. Gel and top coat was on my cuticles on nearly every finger and very thick on the sides between my nails and skin so much so that my skin is stuck to the gel. Also wasn’t cured properly (even after I showed the lady that it was sticky and rubbing off). Can’t say I would recommend.
