I attended The Nail Tech Institute of Iowa from April to June. The teaching style is hands on so you really get to experience the process and learn techniques. I recommend bringing in friends and family so you can practice on them.
The instructors are very supportive each step of the way. The school provided me with a student ID and I was able to shop for supplies at wholesale locations so I could practice on immediate family members at home.
I had a lot of questions about things I watched and heard about, and the instructor was great about explaining things. You can also be creative and try different designs and techniques you find on YouTube while at school (I played around with hombre).
Tip: If you are a kinesthetic or visual learner, purchasing an additional textbook resource with pictures is really helpful. I was able to pass the State Licensing exam the first time with a high 80s score well above the state requirement. My instructor also followed up with me to see how I did on the exam. They really care about students' success.
Even after I finished school and earned my license, I keep in touch with my instructor who is great about answering questions I have even after school. He also cares about my success and helps by referring me to businesses I would be a good fit for.
