There are about 4 or more nail salons at 7th and Redondo but I had to pick this one. Never again. I asked for a powder nail removal and a regular manicure - $30 total. The woman who worked on my nails asked me several times about getting gel but I don't want to expose myself to anymore ultra violet rays, so "no" I just want a regular manicure. Apparently this is not okay anymore because she seemed frustrated that I simply wanted a regular manicure. "It will look 'dirty' in two days", etc. I spent an hour in there and gave her a very generous tip. She didn't even say "thank you" but just got out of her chair to leave me there. When my nails dried, and I put on my glasses, I noticed that my nails were very lumpy and the ends on some were rough. They aren't even the same length. I went back to talk to the manager who was very nice and said that she would fix them but I don't have any more time to spend there to do this. Lesson learned. I won't ever go back there.

Overall the service was nice and they took care of me and the four of my friends very fast BUT a week later I noticed I was getting a gnarly infection usually caused from improper cleaning of tools. My middle fingers been bleeding and oozing puss for the past two weeks and it’s been very painful. Just know that there’s always a possibility of infection :/

I was a loyal customer for many years at Royal Nails prior to these two incidents. 2022: I was a walk-in at Royal Nails. The Manager said they are trained to do Gel-X. I asked her for the best Nail Tech that does Gel-X. I was assigned with a Nail Tech. "Janet or Jenay" I feel "Janet or Jenay" was embarrassed or uncomfortable doing a Gel-X procedure since she is an acrylic technician because of her actions and the comments below gave me awful experience. First comment: "Only White people get Gel-X because it's more expensive, we do more Acrylic Nails in this salon.” Her technique was very unsafe. She put too much glue and was hurting my nails and cut one of my fingers made me bleed. Placed extra glue and did not prep my natural nail or file the Gel-X correctly. Second Comment: She had not seen me in a long time because I stopped going to Royal Nails, so I gained 20 pounds of weight. “You look heavy and gained too much weight, it does not suit you because you are short, young and pretty.” After that experience I stopped going until yesterday because they are across the street from my home, and it was an emergency visit. On March 1st 2023, I went inside the shop as a walk-in Manager said; “yes we do Gel-X.” The beginning of the session was good, the pedicure no complaints. She removed my old Gel-X nails, prepped and filed my nails which were very good. Once she started to apply the Gel-X nail you are supposed to file the Gel-X nail so it can glue correctly to the nail, I did not see her doing this I’m not sure what happened? She also started with my pinky finger and glued the entire Gel-X nail crooked. The nail was not straight, it was touching my wedding finger and it wasn’t my fault because I did not move and if I did, she would have immediately said not to move. She was nervous and did not know what to do because once the nail is glued it’s very difficult to remove and not damage the nail, she cut my pinky and cuticle was damaged, I felt like my pinky was losing circulation it turned pale and another color. It was a painful removal of a fresh Gel-X nail from my pinky. I stopped her and told her to stop immediately and requested a Gel Manicure because she looked like she’s not trained for Gel-X obviously glued the nail crooked. She opposed the suggestion and somehow convinced me to get acrylic. She first was fighting with me to get “Powder”, but I told her isn’t that more expensive than a Gel manicure? I don't care about price but don't want to be taken advantage of as a consumer. I felt she was upselling me and I wanted to leave and not come back ever again. She proceeded with acrylic, I dislike this technique because of the chemicals and powder that make me turn red and irritate my senses. I asked to speak to the manager after my session while paying $86. The manager “Pam” heard my complaint and responded “No tech for you is satisfying, you are too picky, no one is better than “Cindy” my previous tech a long time ago. I told her both techs cut me, did a horrible job, were unprofessional, and you are blaming this on me? I paid and as I was walking and open the door “Pam” started harassing me in front of all the clients in the salon, yelling that I am too “picky” and I responded to her “I’m leaving and not even saying a word and you are being rude and harassing me” in front of everyone in the salon? Like she wanted to fight me, or I felt attacked. This was a total nightmare. I was crying of the harassment, discrimination against overweight people of color. I’m also a business owner and would never treat my clients that way. After I left, I called the owner “Tom” had no emotion very cold individual, did not show any empathy was super unprofessional, I told him about a possible allergic reaction to acrylic, he gave me the green light file complaint, call a lawyer, call health department, and declined refund of $86, all he can do is review the camera footage he said. I've been red in the face and have problems breathing since yesterday.

Me and a friend went and they were able to deliver EXACTLY what we were asking for. 💯 will be returning to them. We looked amazing with our nails and they lasted 3 weeks in near perfect condition. Ask for Cindy and/or Kimberly. Update: 05/13/22 My black and white nails look pretty good after 2 weeks. I am loving this place so far, it's the only place I trust so far to go for quality nails.

I am new to this area of Long Beach and started coming to this place. As an African American woman, I have experienced a lot of bad customer service and disrespect in Asians nail shops. I've seen a lack of responsibility to customer satisfaction and appreciation for regular customers. Disagreements are blown up without peacful resolution. However, at Royal Nails, I've experienced great customer service and quality nail service. When you walk in, you're greeted peoperly and right away, and there are systems in place where you sign in and are called or text when ready. The nails installed and paint are neat and creative. The customer base is diverse among race and gender. If they accidentally hurt, they will apologize and be gentle. I had good experience with eyelash and eye bra servicea. You are required to read and sign an agreement of service and risk. The eyelash lasts for more than a week.
