First time I have been to this salon, I had heard nothing but great things. Drove 45 minutes one way. Desiree was my stylist, and she was absolutely amazing! Friendly staff, clean, organized, amazing sense of style. Catherine the owner is so sweet, and gorgeous! The products used were amazing quality, and my hair turned out amazing! The best part was even after my first wash, I had no color rinse out of my hair, and it feels amazingly healthy even after bleaching! I would recommend anyone that wants to have beautiful, healthy, hair, skin and nails should go to Merle Norman Cosmetics Salon and Spa!

BEST SALON IN STATE!!! I LOVE THE STAFF, I used to be one of them. They just keep getting better with time. I think this location suits them. Beautiful decor and loving service.Looking forward to see what the future holds for Katherine & the girls.

Let me first start off that I am a black client and maybe that's why my experience was terrible. I made an appointment to get my roots colored, not knowing I had to explain to a "T" of me wanting to have my hair straightened. Once my color was in my stylist told me she couldn't straighten my hair due to the time, but mind you as she was applying the color she stated that she would be able to do so and trim my ends. Now my hair can go either way straight or curly, but I wanted it straight so my ends could be trimmed correct. So now we're at her station and she appears to be rushing and tells me she can't straighten my hair because she doesn't have enough time. Stating that it would take over an hour to straighten it and I should have stated that's what I wanted done when I made the appointment. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure everyone that comes to get their hair done gets their hair styled, but that wasn't an option for me because my hair is long, thick, and it's "black" hair. I'm not done... So she said she could trim my ends and she didn't do that right!!! It was a rush job and I'm very concerned of my hair being uneven because she didn't take her time and go through my hair to trim. I'm truly not making this a color thing, because I've received service there before and it was awesome. I received color, blow-dry and flat ironed and liked it and I didn't have to tell them step by step what I wanted when I called. To end this story I left pretty much the same way I came with two twist on the side of my head but with colored roots having to go home and style my own hair. I will say I was very disappointed and angry. Learned lesson... I will NOT BE BACK!!!

I used to work for this Merle Norman from 1998-2002. I started when they were at Courtland Center. I have since moved away out-of-state and then out of the country since 2004, but every time I come to Michigan to visit family, I always visit this Merle Norman. From Courtland Center they moved to Genesee Valley Mall. Most recently, they moved across the street next to Hobby Lobby. This is by far my favorite location. The inside decor is stunning. And the people that work there (many still from when I was there!!) still have the most warm and welcoming vibe.
I was in Michigan only for a week this time and I spent 3 days there! My mom got her nails done with Desiree, my sister got her hair cut with Desiree. I have alopecia and I wear a wig and Desiree cut it for me so it looked fresh again.
For the first time, I got my eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed (I don't have eyebrows or lashes). Sherry and Holly are a mom and daughter duo and they did such an incredible job. They listened to all my requests/concerns and did a great job making me feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy. I will definitely be touching up the tattoo in 6 weeks. They use the most current tattooing technology - microblading. It looks like I have hair in my eyebrows from the tattoo strokes. After the microblading, they go back in and do shading, which makes them look fuller. I love my eyebrows and eyeliner. They are great with shaping and color matching. They use a vegetable dye that is free from metals so the tattoo won't turn purple or red over time.
In addition to hair and permanent tattooing services, this Merle Norman offers eyebrow shaping, facials, makeup application, and eyelash extensions. Plus, you can stock up on makeup and skin care while you are there. Definitely a one-stop-beauty-shop and a true gem in Flint.

I went here to get a bikini wax and Evon went beyond my expectations! She was friendly and informing and you can really tell she loves what she does!
