The workers were very kind to me and my mom and gave us compliments. The service was great however my nail technician was really rough on my nails and made multiple places on my fingers raw. She also pushed my cuticle back so hard repeatedly that it began to bleed a lot. She then was irritated it bled and didn’t go gentler. I thought the name job itself was really pretty but it was exactly what I wanted. I asked for a very pointed stiletto and I got almond instead. I had tips put on because my nails are rather short and 2 days later my thumb nail broke when I accidentally bumped my hand on something. The day after that I looked done and my index finger nail was mostly gone. I’m not very happy but I’m going to try to go back and have them fix it. Don’t waste your money here.

I'm only rating one star because it's not possible to give less than that. I have never had such a negative experience at a nail salon. The lady who greeted us clearly had an attitude and told us to pick a color. After a couple of minutes of looking for a color she yelled from the back, "We are ready for you!" The same lady was my nail technician and was incredibly rough during my pedicure, did a sloppy job with the polish, and yelled at me saying that my skirt was too long when the polish later rubbed off when I went to dry my nails. My friend's nail technician talked on his phone the entire time. There was conversation with other customers, but not with us. I do not recommend this salon to anyone. I even went to a different salon after the fact to get my nail polish cleaned up. I did not want to deal with the attitude that would come with trying to get it fixed at this salon. Do not waste your time, money or endorse poor business ethics. End rant.

I usually don’t leave reviews, so I have to feel strongly to do so. I walked in here on a whim after striking out at shop after shop. I was greeted and seated immediately. I asked for an ombré pink and white and got the most intimate service I have ever received from a tech! The work is absolutely phenomenal! I live 30 minutes away but will now be coming all the way out just to be serviced here, everyone was so welcoming and kind. The environment was just great. Can not rate this place highly enough. Please weigh this review in your decision to patron this business, I am suspicious of these negative reviews. My experience was nothing short of excellent. The hairstylist was so kind as well!

I took my daughter to the Avalon Salon for her 12th birthday - celebrating with a manicure and pedicure (something we have not done before). We were greeted and taken back for the pedicure immediately. The pedicure experience was nice and we were able to sit next to each other to enjoy the experience. We told them we were there to celebrate my daughter's birthday. When the pedicure was done, I was taken for my manicure first while the nail tech was finishing with my daughter. Though there were empty seats near me, the nail tech took my daughter to a seat quite a distance away, where my back was to them and I could not see them. When my manicure was done, I was able to turn around and see what was going on with my daughter. Her nails were already polished and she was drying them but her nail tech was no where in sight. When my nails were dry I put on my shoes and still my daughter's nail tech was no where to be seen. I got my daughters shoes paid for the service and we left. We compared experiences as we were walking back to the car and I learned my daughter did not have the same manicure experience that I did at all- no relaxing hand massage, no top coat polish. She said that the nail tech told her that she would be right back, got up and left and never came back. It was incredibly disappointing that they would take advantage of and not give the same service to a minor that they did to the person paying the bill. I will not go back to this nail salon and would not recommend it to others.

I was shopping at Short Pump with my friend and she desperately needed a pedicure, and I already got one, so I only needed a manicure. I guess it was convenient to come here since we were already at the mall. When we arrived, we both should have run for the hills because this place was so cluttered, that it looked like an antique store. The lamp on the table was crooked and everything was scattered. I know, small details. I was looking at their polish and they had a lot of old polish, so I decided to not get any polish. The employee that was going to do my manicure, went to the back to get her tools and when she came back, she dropped her cuticle nipper on the floor. As she was filing my nails, she was watching a drama on her phone the whole time - instead of my nails. Which was very unprofessional. I told her that I wanted my nails clipped. Her clipper was very dull, so she had to use both hands to cut my nails. That was very weird. Afterwards, she filed my nails really quickly then soaked my nails in a bowl of water. She didn't cut my cuticles because her nipper fell on the floor, so she just pushed my cuticles up. The massage for my hands after my manicure was very quick because she was so focused on her phone. When she was done, she just threw all of her tools into a drawer. Sanitary issues there. She then told me to go into the back to wash my hands. She asked if I wanted my nails polished and I said no, so she let me sit there with my friend. My friend and I were talking and then all of a sudden another employee (not working on us) randomly asked us if we were Latino. We thought this was rude. I had an important phone call, so I was talking softly when I picked up. This other employee startled me because she randomly grabbed my hand when I was on the phone. She was looking at my bracelet. After I hung up the phone, I told her about my bracelet and the employees just looked at me, but never responded. Okay...? When my friend was getting her pedicure, she didn't get a hot towel (neither did I), which is standard practice. It was so hot in there, even with two fans, that another customer was complaining about the heat. After we were done, we decided that this isn't a place we'd recommend from the cluttered environment to unsanitary tools. Very inexpensive place, but it's truly a, "you get what you pay for", kind of deal here. We definitely won't be back.
